Chesterfield College invests in web-based HR and payroll

Seven-year contract with NorthgateArinso to support and drive continuous improvement through people and technology

Chesterfield College has signed a seven-year contract with NorthgateArinso. The HR supplier will deliver a web-based HR and payroll solution using its ResourceLink Aurora solution.

Colleges are going through a period of fundamental transformation in the way they provide services, prompted by the need for efficiency savings across the public sector. This transformation is particularly relevant to back office functions, with a need to improve processes, systems and provide clarity in roles and responsibilities.

Chesterfield College’s vision is to take advantage of the capabilities of ResourceLink Aurora to develop its processes and procedures and redefine the responsibilities of HR, managers and employees within the organisation, ultimately delivering a more efficient and focused service.  One of the key aspects of this vision is the ability to empower managers through the use of Self-Service and higher quality and more timely management information, which will support their decision making.

Chesterfield College was looking for a solution which would support this vision and assist in developing a new HR strategy, focused on managing and development of its employees.

It has been recognised that historically the role of HR in the College, as in many other organisations has been largely administrative, however to support the strategic aims, this will need to change and the ResourceLink solution, will enable this to happen, through improved processes and the reduction in routine administration, through the use of workflow. The ResourceLink Aurora solution will give the HR team the information they need at their fingertips and free up staff time to concentrate on improving the quality and efficiency of the HR service.

“We needed a solution which was both flexible and accurate, and would enable us to plan our workforce resources more effectively. We wanted to develop a partnership with a supplier that we could trust,” said Paul Dobson, Director of Finance at Chesterfield College. “NorthgateArinso has significant experience with other Colleges. The team has proved that they are prepared to listen to us and work with us to achieve our vision”.

“Chesterfield College was looking for a tried and tested web-based solution from a supplier with a proven track record of working within Further Education. NorthgateArinso demonstrated that other Colleges had confidence in it as a supplier, which made our decision easy,” said Sue Notoy-Ward, Director of Human Resources at Chesterfield College. “ResourceLink Aurora will offer us an integrated solution, which will reduce the duplication of data and improve processes. It will also provide a capability to deploy specific responsibilities to line managers and staff using intranet and browser technology, for example Online Payslips, Web Expenses and Performance Management.  We believe that this project will support our vision of driving continuous improvement through people.  Fundamentally, we recognise the role that people play and the contribution they make to the overall success of the College and we believe that NorthgateArinso can support us in achieving our vision”.

“Chesterfield College is looking to embrace a myriad of capabilities in ResourceLink Aurora - providing access to managers and employees whenever and wherever they need it,” said Dave Proctor, Business Development Director at NorthgateArinso. “There’s a lot of pressure on the public sector at the moment to transform and re-evaluate processes, people and technology, which we recognise.  Through the use of ResourceLink Aurora, the HR team is able to focus on developing its new HR strategy, whilst improving supporting and improving the performance of managers and delivering a more engaging service, ensuring the College becomes an employer of choice.”
