The result is a simple approach to time and attendance record keeping, with integration with HR and payroll to remove any need for duplicate data entry.
“We had used the predecessor of Optimum for a number of years and were very happy with it, so we were looking forward to the arrival of Optimum,” explains Noreen Dineen from the HR & Payroll Department at ALPS. “The new solution does indeed give us everything we want from a time and attendance system. It integrates easily with the swipe card system that employees use to clock in and is very easy to use.
“Employees and managers can easily access information about their attendance record, the number of holiday days they have taken and that are still available, and so on. Optimum is especially useful for holiday planning. Managers can access a calendar function that shows them a department-wide view of booked holidays. It’s also straightforward to get information to use in reports or presentations, and for essential tasks like monitoring compliance for the Working Time Act.”
Integrating with HR and payroll
Around the same time that Optimum was introduced, ALPS saw the value in having one integrated solution fully supported by a single supplier, compared to their separate HR, payroll and time and attendance systems. In addition, their employee numbers had grown rapidly over a short period of time, but with the same number of HR and payroll administration staff. A more efficient, up-to-date and effective solution was required.
This is why ALPS integrated Optimum with the ResourceLink HR and payroll solution. This integrated solution has reduced duplicate data entry and the need for separate databases, and integrates with Cognos to deliver flexible reporting capability to ALPS.
Noreen Dineen points out another of the main benefits that ResourceLink has delivered: “The MyView self-service HR and payroll tool now means that we can produce soft copy P45s. We have no need to produce hard copies any more, with soft copies sent to the Revenue Commissioners and available for employees. This clearly has a big time and cost saving for ALPS and is another example of the efficiencies that the NorthgateArinso Ireland solutions have delivered.”
